A sami Nepalczycy? To barwni, otwarci, ciepli ludzie, którzy uśmiechają się, bo tak czują, a nie bo tak trzeba. Podobno pierwsza podróż do Nepalu jest dla gór. Drugim razem jedzie się tam dla ludzi. Coś w tym jest na pewno :)

What about the Nepalese? They are colorful, open-minded, warm-hearted people that smile because they want to and not because they have to. It is said that the first visit to Nepal is for the mountains, but the second one is for the people. I'd really like to go there again :)

Jeśli miałabym opisać Nepal jednym słowem, byłby to przymiotnik "kolorowy". Jest kolorowy dosłownie: we florze i faunie, w barwach cieżarówek, budynków, w straganach, w ubraniach ludzi i ich świątecznych strojach. Jest tam tak kolorowo, że czasami wydawało mi się, jakby ktoś w Photoshopie bawił się nasyceniem barw. ;) Kolorowy w przenośni: w Nepalu żyje 125 różnych grup etnicznych i kast, oraz wyznawcy co najmniej 5 różnych religii. I nie dość, że jest ich tak dużo, to jeszcze z racji tej różnorodności nigdy nie doszło do zbrojnego konfliktu na kulturowym czy religijnym tle. Reszta świata mogłaby się tego od Nepalczyków nauczyć.

If I was to describe Nepal with one word, it would be adjective "colorful". It's literally colorful: the plants, the animals, the trucks, the buildings, the food stalls, people's everyday and festive clothes that we saw were so colorful that sometimes I felt as if someone tinkered with hue and saturation in Photoshop. ;) And it's colorful metaphorically: there are 125 different ethnic groups and castes in Nepal and more than 5 different religions. Despite this cultural, religious and ethnic diversity, there has never been a single drop of blood shed because of that. This is something for the rest of the world to learn from the Nepalese.

Wiedzieliście, że Budda urodził się w Nepalu? A dokładnie w Lumbini, które dziś jest dla Buddystów świetym miejscem. A wiedzieliście, że Nepal jako jedyne państwo na świecie nie ma flagi prostokątnej? To dwa połączone czerwone trójkąty z błękitną obwódką, na wyższym jest księżyc, a na niższym słońce. A czy wiedzieliście, że osiem z dziesięciu najwyższych szczytów Himalajów i jednocześnie najwyższych szczytów świata znajduje się właśnie w Nepalu? A o tym, że w Nepalu nie jest teraz wcale rok 2015 wiedzieliście? Te i wiele innych faktów sprawia, że warto odwiedzić Nepal :)

Did you know that Nepal is the birthplace of Buddha? He was born there, in Lumbini and today it is a sacred place for Buddhists. Did you know than the flag of Nepal is the only one in the world that is not rectangular? Nepal's flag is two red triangular shapes with a blue border; the upper triangle has the moon on it, the lower one has the sun. And did you know that eight of the ten tallest mountains in the Himalayas and in the world are in Nepal? And have you heard that it is not 2015 in Nepal now? Those and many other facts make Nepal interesting and worth visiting.

Mówiłam, że to jeszcze nie koniec tych wakacji. Podróż z Polski do Kuwejtu była długa, dwudniowa (prawie), przerwana noclegiem nad Morzem Śródziemnym (koszt biletów lotniczych nawet razem z noclegiem w hotelu był mniejszy niż lot bardziej bezpośredni). Tak więc wieczorem 27 sierpnia przyleciałam do Kuwejtu, ale następnego dnia rano już znowu byłam w drodze (a w zasadzie w powietrzu). Rodzice zabrali mnie na wyprawę, którą planowali od 25 kwietnia tego roku.

I told you it's not the end of my holidays. The journey from Poland back to Kuwait was long, it lasted almost two days and required a stopover by the Mediterranean Sea (the costs of plane tickets plus accommodation were still lower than the tickets for a more direct flight). So, in the evening of August 27 I landed in Kuwait, but the very next morning I got back on the road (or rather in the air). This time my parents took me on a journey they had been planning since April 25.
